Ironman was imported as a 3 - year old and got his first training in the US by Mardie Biederman. She put him in training with Todd Minikus, who won the Mid-West Regional Finals for the International Jumper Futurity (IJF).

In the finals, ridden by a catch rider, (Todd was on the Nations Cup tour in Europe) he finished fourth. Ironman has a wonderful pedigree; because of his prepotency he sires athletic sport horses for all disciplines.

His sire, Inselfürst, made a ”big time” career up to the FEI level in dressage and is very closely related to the American show jumping hero Heisman, twice the "Horse of the Year” and a member of the US Olympic team in Barcelona ‘92, where they placed 9th in the individual.

Other successful relatives are, Queensway Big Q, Galipolis, Anaconda, Agent, Agadir.
